The Initiative, "Flemish Science Masters", aims to promote the continuous stream of innovation that originates from the Region of Flanders in the past 500 years. From the most industrialized region in Western Europe, hosting the most successful economic hubs such as Bruges, Ghent and Antwerp, to the cutting edge of the world's center for diamonds, to being the nr.1 clusters in the world in nanotechologies and biotechologies. Today's scientists of Flanders continue the tradition of innovation, pioneering, internationalization and vision, from Dr. Paul Stoffels to Dr. Peter Piot.
At the time, masters as Jan Van Eyck, Rogier Van der Weyden and Pieter Paul Rubens were pioneers in innovation, and simply amongst the best in the world.
Today, Flanders is home to our 'New Flemish Masters' like Peter Piot, Paul Stoffels, Rudi Pauwels, Pieter Abbeel and many more.
